The idea that woman likes sex more than man caused them to be branded witches for a period of time in history, mentally ill in another century and finally hysterical.
A Doctor in the 19th century started treating woman by inserting his hand at the woman vagina and massaging it until spasm were shown - orgasm. Husbands would pay high amount of money to send their wives to the doctor and many women decided they have hysteria just so they could go to the doctor too.
The Doctor, Joseph Mortimer Granville, who was also an engineer, became so tired of providing this treatment that he develop a machine to do the service. In this way women could be treated in high numbers.
